ELECTROPHORUS

It is used for producing electrostatic charges for electroscope experiments, etc.
It is exactly the same as is supplied in our electrostatics kit.
It consists of a thick plastic base with a brass metal disc mounted coaxially on a Perspex handle.
The insulating handle is also available in ebonite.
The brass plate is designed to eliminate any sharp edges which could cause leakage.
It is useful in classrooms to demonstrate induction charging by making sparks with static electricity. The plastic material produces a strong frictional charge when rubbed with fur or any other material.
