SIX’S THERMOMETER (MAXIMUM/MINIMUM THERMOMETER)

Six’s Thermometer is a registering thermometer used to record the maximum and minimum temperatures over a set period, usually 24 hours. It shows the current temperature along with the highest and lowest values since the last reset. This thermometer is used in laboratories, weather stations, schools, and environmental studies. Its U-shaped glass tube, dual scales, and mercury indicator section offer clear and reliable readings. The design supports accurate temperature monitoring and simple resetting using a magnet.

Key Features

• Records maximum and minimum temperatures over time
• Displays current temperature during use
• U-shaped glass tube with two clear scales
• Maximum and minimum scales on separate arms
• Temperature range from -30 to +60°C and -20 to +140°F
• Spirit-filled bulb for sensitive temperature response
• Mercury section in the U-bend acts as indicator
• Steel indices move with liquid expansion for accurate records
• Resetting possible through a supplied magnet
• Mounted on a strong plastic base
• Suitable for labs, weather monitoring, and environmental studies

Working Principle

Six’s Thermometer works by using the expansion and contraction of spirit in both arms of the U-shaped tube. When the temperature rises or falls, the spirit expands or contracts, causing the mercury in the U-bend to move. This movement pushes the steel indices up the tube. The lower end of each index shows the maximum or minimum temperature reached. Users reset the indices with a magnet. The thermometer continues to show the current temperature at all times.

Use Cases

• School and college laboratories
• Weather monitoring and climate studies
• Environmental data collection
• Agricultural temperature tracking
• Indoor and outdoor temperature observation
