This muscle model illustrates a section of a skeletal muscle fiber and its neuromuscular end plate.
The muscle fiber is the basic element of the diagonally striped skeletal muscle.
Bundles of myofibrils, and the triad of the terminal cisternae and the transverse tubules are seen.
The sarcomere with the thick and the thin filaments is depicted in this model. It is responsible for the striated appearance of the skeletal muscle.
The nucleus, mitochondria, sarcoplasmic reticulum are all seen in the sarcoplasm, within the sarcolemma.
