SPERMATOZOA

The model depicts the detailed structure of a human sperm cell.
It can be divided into 2 halves:

• The sperm head (nucleus, nuclear vacuoles, nuclear envelope, plasma membrane, acrosome, equatorial region) and
• The sperm tail (terminal disc, axial filament) with the mid-connecting piece (centriole, mitochondria).

A textual discussion focussing first on the structure and biochemistry of the sperm and then following the germ cell from its inception (spermatogenesis) to its final destination (fusion with the ovum) accompanies this model.
