SODIUM VAPOUR LAMP

This lamp is used as a source of monochromatic light.
It finds application in several experiments along with various instruments such as Spectrometer, Newton’s ring apparatus, etc.
It is basically a gas-discharge lamp that uses sodium in an excited state to produce light at a characteristic wavelength near 589 nm.
It consists of an outer glass vacuum envelope around an inner gas discharge tube containing solid sodium.
It works at 35 Watts for producing monochromatic light at high intensity.
